About me

Geza Gaspar was born in east central Europe, in Transylvania, in 1965. He witnessed the communist terror and the fall of a brutal dictator.

He believes in the power of freedom, in talent, hard work and persistence. He was not yet 20 years old when he met the sculptor of Brancusi, one of the most influential sculptors of the twentieth century. Brancusi’s works such as “Endless Column”, “The table of silence” and “Gate of the Kiss” touched him deeply. The effect was immediate and undeniable. Geza knew he was born to be a sculptor.

After the fall of communism, Geza moved to Budapest to pursue artistic studies in the studio of Rabie M. Hadie and Eva Bod, ceramist artists. He later built his own atelier and sculptor studio, and had his first exhibition in 1998. His first commissioned work was the “Christen of Vajk” a life size composition. This was very challenging for Geza as he was still familiarizing himself with ceramics, but feeling and instinct help to make the project a great success.

Geza then continued his art studies in Paris, familiarizing himself with great characters of modern painting and plastic art. Rodin’s world famous statues, Picasso’s, and the stretched bodies of women created by Modigliani.

In 1995, Geza was asked to form the Hungarian Fine Art Award “Prima Award”. This award is given to outstanding, artists, scientists, and sports persons.

From Paris, Geza moved on to Milan where he was introduced to the world of fashion, where the beautiful models and the latest fashions moving strangely on the catwalk inspired him very much.

Always experimenting with mediums and techniques, Geza was influenced much by American artist “Frank Eliscu” (1912-1996), and began his journey into the “direct wax sculpting”. Geza finds this process very fulfilling and satisfying. The wax is gone and the bronze statue remains. A unique bronze statue stands alone.

Geza, “I adore working with the wax, as I express my feelings through this dynamic acting. It is as if flesh is put on an empty framework, the finished bronze has my hand and finger prints on it.”

Through this process, Geza is able to pour into bronze life’s intimate, dramatic, beautiful and grotesque moments. A musician, one with instrument and music, a model in harmony with her clothes and beauty, a hero Don Quixote in agreement with his destiny. Geza is continuously looking for a new form contour in all his projects.

Geza is working from his atelier bronze art studio in Budapest,Hungary and Windsor, Ontario,Canada . Always inspired by his surroundings and global events, Geza has many categories of work ranging from small to large, ceramics to bronze, always experimenting in an effort to express himself.
