The story behind
The Foundations of America, tells the story of this Land which was named after Amerigo Vespucci, a Sailor, and an adventurer standing alone on a pedestal. He is not attached anymore to the building but is watching the evolution and utopia of his dream. Would he have imagined that what he saw would become what are the United States today?
Furthermore under the huge change that the country is living today, the Statue of Liberty, is trying to support the collapse of this visionary dream of freedom and prosperity; its foundation erodes over time by the rising sea levels , a hint of the climate changes our planet is facing.
On the left there are prison steel bars that represent the repression against American Indians, original people of this Land, but also to all its present inhabitants that the financial and political spheres condemns and crushes today. At the top of the ideology, however, the American dream is still alive in this romantic light of the upper room. A buoy hangs there to save the people from the unpredicted but also to remember the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, this invincible boat which once stood as the icon of its age, that nevertheless lies at the bottom of the Sea.
The Sea, which at the time, “El Dorado”, the gold rush in the wild west and the dreams of a new country, saw ships of immigrants coming from the old continent represented here by two kids carrying heavy suitcases crossing the Atlantic to live a better future.
And me on the first floor, same level as the Statue of Liberty with whom I share this dream and ideology of freedom ... I'm a dreamer … and I love it!
In the back, is lower Manhattan, magical vision of these buildings and the empire that stands as a Landmark for the country…
