How competitions work

Goal

The goal of organizing competitions is to connect people.

New Master Artist provides a community where
- Visitors can start competitions to find art or talent
- Artists have tools to present their work in great detail to the jury

The result is contact between the organizer and the artist.
New Master Artist facilitates the process of connecting the people.

Jury members

The organizer can determine who the jurymembers are:
- you
- friends
- colleagues
- customers
- the public
- the art committee of your company

Help from art experts

Organizers may invite art experts to join their jury. This is a paid service. Please contact us for more information, or click here:

Voting

We advise jury-members not to do the voting at the last moment. Especially if new artworks can still be submitted. It can be very helpful for new and already participating artists to see what you like, and what you don't like. It will guide new and excisting artists as to what kind of art you really like. Organizers have the option to mark artworks as "Does Not Qualify".

As jury member you may give a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 5 points per artwork. This is a nice guideline:
- 5 points: most probably a winner to me
- 4 points: possibly a winner to me
- 3 points: interesting to me
- 2 points: not so interesting to me, or may not meet requirements
- 1 point: not so interesting to me, or may not meet requirements, or poor presentation.

Awards and prizes

The organizer determines what the award / prize is. This can range from contact with the artist to buying the artwork. New Master Artist is not involved in the selection process or in awarding prizes to the winners.

Buying winning artworks

Artworks are not bought via New Master Artist. This is a matter between the visitor and the artists. New Master Artist is not involved. However, if you are the organizer of a competition, you may ask NMA to act as intermediary for photos and prints. More information about buying artworks can be found here.

Announcing winners

The organizer of the event may select the winners. The winners may be chosen independent of the number of votes or ranking. This is up to the organizer to decide. Organizers are advised not to differ much from the final ranking. With public voting, organizers may not deviate from the voting results.
