About me
Born in Romania, Catinca was a lover and student of art from a young age. She spent her early years studying art history and traveling around the globe learning about, and looking at, art.
Catinca began dealing in fine art upon her graduation from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003. She spent three years buying Romanian art for corporations and private collectors in North America, Europe and Japan. At the time, she specialized in modern oil painting and glass sculpture.
Catinca then decided to continue her formal education and obtained her juris doctorate and masters in international law at Duke University Law School. While earning her degrees, Catinca combined her love for art with her legal endeavors and spent time working in East Africa, Italy and China.
In 2009, after two years at a New York law firm, Catinca returned to art consulting. She focused on contemporary art, moving fluidly between mediums including painting, photography, sculpture and street art. She can just as easily negotiate her way through an antique art fair in Milan, as through a hip art battle in Brooklyn.
Over the years, Catinca has built invaluable relationships with artists, art dealers and galleries in the far corners of the world. These relationships translate into her clients receiving the best deals on a broad and varied pool of artists. Her experience, skills and connections are her clients’ best resource in their artistic pursuits.
In 2010, Catinca began her curatorial career which has resulted in 6 major projects over the past year and a half.
